Our Estate Planning Process

As you begin the process, we urge you to devote much time to prayer and seek God's will on this matter.

"Commit your way to the Lord, trust also in Him, and He shall bring it to pass" - Psalm 37:5

The Estate Specialist at PhilanthroCorp will walk you through a four-step process in planning an estate.

Step One - Evaluate

Evaluate your current situation. This includes a review of:

  • God's plan for stewardship of your estate
  • Your financial position and asset holdings
  • The structure of your business and agreements
  • Your existing will, trusts and other planning documents

Step Two- Listen

Listen to your goals and objectives to discover the people and current ministry/ charitable interests that may be beneficiaries of your estate. This includes:

  • The dynamics of your family
  • The impact you'd like to make on causes that are dear to your heart
  • The needs of potential family and charitable beneficiaries of your estate
  • Your long-term retirement goals

Step Three- Create

Create a customized estate design based on your intentions. This includes determining:

  • Timing and the nature of what your beneficiaries are to receive
  • Tools that will minimize your estate taxes and estate settlement costs
  • Plans for the implementation of your charitable wishes

Step Four- Implementation

The estate planning specialist at PhilanthroCorp will work with your legal and tax advisors, if any, to assist in implementing a plan tailored to your situation.

It is important to note that throughout the process PhilanthroCorp estate specialists complement any advisors you may have; they do not supplant them. In all cases, after their initial sessions with you are completed and you have finalized a plan, an attorney will be required to implement it.

If you know an attorney who specializes in estates, then you might want to take your plan to this attorney and have those documents drafted. If, however, you would like help with this step, then PhilanthroCorp will recommend attorneys to you. The prices these attorneys charge will be much lower than normal because of the large volume of work PhilanthroCorp is able to send them.

However, even if you decide to work with your own attorney, one of the benefits of working with PhilanthroCorp is that you could still expect reduced attorney's fees. In other words, their experience has been that even attorneys outside of their referral network will often reduce that fee significantly because of the clarity of the planning and the detailed schematics provided.

Perhaps, the best way to illustrate this is through some comments provided to us from individuals with whom PhilanthroCorp has recently worked.

Peter Scott, Estate Planning Attorney:
"I was impressed by the thorough and thoughtful way PhilanthroCorp explored the Scriptural foundations of stewardship and gifting as part of the planning process. Their documents were easy to understand and they accurately reflected the concerns of my clients. Their planning was excellent."

Steve Taatjes, Sherwood, Oregon:
"We were very pleased with your helpfulness and full explanations. The thoroughness of your work was impressive as was the fact that you worked with us in our time zone, which was quite late for you. Our attorney who completed the final paperwork was impressed and said that your work was very helpful. Because of your work, he only charged us half the normal fee."

Sharon Rosenberger, Groveland, California:
"I really appreciate the service you provided. It was the impetus I needed to have a will created, something I had put off doing for 10 years because I thought I couldn't afford it, and I didn't know an attorney who would do it. You helped me find an affordable attorney and walked me through the whole process."

After an attorney is selected, there still is work to be done before you finalize your documents. PhilanthroCorp stands by you through the whole process, including reviewing with you rough drafts and final drafts. They will also assist should, as a result of your completed plan, any assets need to be transferred or trusts funded.

PhilanthroCorp's services are provided from Gospel for Asia at no cost to you in many cases. It is their philosophy to assume a servant's role in this process, seeking to be a blessing to you.

Whether or not you use PhilanthroCorp's services, it is important that you get started today.
