Planned Giving Solutions for Nonprofits!!

In working with new clients we first learn about the composition of each client’s donor base, and how they communicate with their donors. We help our clients easily identify (based on giving history) their most committed long-term supporters (target group for planned giving). We then outline a marketing plan that is easy to implement. This marketing plan will include periodic items that only the target group will receive, and periodic communications such as receipt stuffers, newsletter articles, and space ads that all donors will receive.

Soon after the marketing is initiated, individuals will “raise their hand” asking for help with their estate plans. We contact these individuals and set an appointment with one of our Estate Specialists. The Estate Specialist then helps them by identifying their goals and crafting an estate plan that matches these goals. Once the plan is finalized, we help the donor implement the plan through an attorney. In most cases, individuals utilize an attorney from our network of Christian estate planning attorneys that offer preferred rates for this work. We stay engaged with the donors until they have executed their documents and then afterwards, send them a survey to evaluate us on their experience. We share these responses with our clients and we also share the charitable aspects of each donor’s estate plan. In a few instances, individuals ask that the information be kept confidential, but this is very much the exception. When we report these estate gifts we encourage all of our clients to send thank-you notes to these donors and we provide a draft acknowledgement letter to facilitate this.

Clients can expect the results from this process to be dramatic, both in terms of their donor’s stated appreciation for this service, and in terms of generous planned gifts. On average, the current value of the planned gifts our clients receive exceed PhilanthroCorp fees by a factor of 40. In addition, many clients have tracked donors’ current giving patterns before and after working with PhilanthroCorp and found significant overall increases after going through this process. Moreover, the charitable estate planning process often leads to current planned gift opportunities, either in conjunction with our services, or later in our client’s follow-up after our services are concluded.
